The Living Dead Girl

Ya that's me, living dead girl. Why? Oh I live in a mausoleum. I'm Helena Stringer, your newest guest blogger to hit the Free*Style pages. I learnt of Freestyle almost right after it was born. I started making notices shortly after, for all the deals I found(in the beginning anyone could post deals, we weren't that big then). I didn't know of the blog, till one day Creamy basically said to the group, I'm to lazy today to post all the shops I found items in. So check out the blog. Well she had had the blog way before then, but that was the turning point for me. When you get too busy designing, and are a cheap ass like me, you can sort of just window shop. It's a beautiful thing.

My aim here will be to blog in theme, me I love themed things! So be it a certain item, like a whole post on ankle boots, or blue things, or ducks, you get the idea. Feel free to put themes of things you want me to find, in the comments, I'll try my best for you, designers willing!

I decided to be a bit lazy myself, and do some freebie shopping on slx . . . oops Xstreet SL®. It's a great thing for when sl sucks . . . ermmm guess I can't say that here. Little round furry things okay? They normally come in a pair, unless something is wrong.

Anyways.

The Dress above caught my eye. I have a thing for making my hips even bigger(shoves more Hershey's WHITE chocolate chips in her mouth). I was let to this dress by clicking a link from slx to the store. There is a bunch of goodies here. I had also found a set of gloves on slx. Now they led me to the inworld store, which had even more goodies. The ones I wear here are of the inworld variety.

I had the perfect tat from one of my new favvy stores. Hadn't worn it yet, so why not get nakie for you guys?

If you don't have an eyelash folder, man oh man, go out and find some of those suckers. You will have to learn how to modify objects in sl, since we are all different, but most take little tweaks. These, well the fit me perfect! They come in 5 colours.

The necklace, I couldn't tell you when I found that, but it seemed to fit the bill. It's just too bad he didn't have a lil ebil grin, eh?

OMG another great find! My hips are even bigger looking!(throws Hershey's WHITE chocolate chips in her hot chocolate).

These next 2 dresses warranted on location shots. I took these pics at the Crimson Shadow sim.

There is a pink version of the dress too, but it clashed with all my blood.

Even dead girls like shoes! Sad thing is, even with my arsenal of grayish skins, I couldn't find one to match right. Maybe I'll have to make one out, now that you all are going to run off and get these, or you could maybe share with me if you find a good match.

These are for is your worried your toes are more in a state of decay then you thought. You get to keep them digits with these! While adding a bit of fluff too!

That skin looks like it's a rip from one of Enayla's skins, a Sims 2 designer...

Jennii-Don't take this wrong, but I'm going to help you, and some other understand this situation a it more. I'm not reaming anybody out with this, please keep this in mind.

You got to be very careful when bringing up the word "Ripped" in sl. You MUST MUST research, more then just a photo from somewhere else. Many designers use brushes, it's a type of tool in photoshop. Since there are limited sites that have free downloads, many of us get some of the same resourses. It's the same when photosourcing. A great example is Redgrave and another Sims2 creator, heres the link: http://blog.stopcontenttheft.com/?p=603

I actually have that Blood brush myself. I couldn't track it back on Deviantart, cause I renamed it. But it was a free one from there dear.

Another example I can give you, tho this is to do with actual made objects, but AVZ and I have a hair that is similar. Does that mean I copied it or they copied me? Well we just happened to use a similar picture of a character in a popular Magna Comicbook in Japan. So the concept is similar, but they are made differently.

Hope that sheads some light on the situation.

Okrebecca-Oh man, I'm such a cheap ass in rl, I love finding deals, so of course sl is the same for me, I love to be able to say, oh you like this, I got it all for free!

And I would love to do a hair post, but here's the issue with that, so you guys know. Wouldn't you think it would be almost like I'm using Free*style to pimp my shit? Thats not what I'm here for. And since I only wear my own hair, I can't do a hair post. But my alt is a hair WHORE, so any deals I find, I'll pass to one of the other Free*Stylists.

Work for you? hehe

Trust me Helena, I understand far better than most the concept of all of this and the chance of using the same source. What I do find strange, however, is that it isn't just one skin but -multiple- skins at this store, that seem to "just so happen" to use the same textures as Enayla's works overlaid onto the exact same areas of the skins. Enayla is most certainly one of the best known Sims 2 skin artists, and these skins in question have been around for years. I could take that a step further to note that it isn't just a brush used on the cheeks, but the eye detailing for the makeup is the same as well.

Katerina-Yes, Vellas, I did happen to credit it properly, also I did happen to say only the neckalce was used from the set. Just making that clear.

Jennii-To further state, since you brought up some of the other skins, I just so happen to have the scale texture too. Since I can't find the brushes right now, can't spend hours searching to prove it to you, we'll just leave it at that. I understand your concerns over this. We all like to protect ourselves and work in sl.

You also mentioned the eyeshadow, and they are totally different.

Anyways I don't want this to get into a little war over who is right and who is wrong. But the brushes are out there for free.

Hmm it's a tough one. You can't deny the similarity in the two skins, but, as Eden says, the brushes are out there.

I think really it's up to the Sims designer to make the call whether there has been any infringement. I hear about many things I blog that it looks like its been ripped from someone else, but more and more often we are discovering that they have just used the same source.

It's really hard to tell :/

I rarely pull anything from this blog now unless I hear directly from the original creator that there has been an infringement.

Jennii- the person you should be contacting in cases where you suspect something is ripped is always the original creator. They are the ones who need to know, the ones who can judge these cases better, and the ones who can actually do something about it. Spreading "I think maybe"s does not help them at all, as if it is a case of theft, the thief then has the heads up to try to cover their tracks.

Send Enayla an email.
